‘Kirklees Sound Archive

Over the last quarter of a century the Kirklees Sound Archive has built up a collection of hundreds of interviews with local people from a wide range of backgrounds. They form a fascinating insight into the family histories of local people and the world in which they lived. Some interviewees loaned photographs, documents and other material relating to their lives. These supporting images are now available on the Kirklees Image Archive website.’

Love Tokens
In the 18th and 19th centuries many people defaced low-value or demonetised coins and tokens and turned them into love tokens and mementoes. Images of a collection of these in the collections of Kirklees Museums and Galleries have now been added to the Kirklees Image Archive. They can be viewed by searching for "love token".

As part of the joint BBC / British Museum “A History of the World” partnership Kirklees Museums and Galleries have chosen three items which feature on the national website http://www.bbc.co.uk/ahistoryoftheworld
